This album is a perfect example of a really good band putting out a really good debut album. Having seen them live I can appreciate that the style they followed was all of their own making and the music reflected this. Lyrically poetic, musically extravagant, but also so very raw on their manner; live, they were a fantastic stage presence and, at that time, one of the few bands who could carry that vital presence and sense of being into the studio. They were dark and desperate but with a whimsical tale of woe to tell, so sit back and listen.
