This cd gives listener the feeling that they are right there enjoying the show. I haven't heard a voice of this quality in a long long time. Mr. Ball demonstrates an ability to immerse himself emotionally in his songs as is heard in Gethsemane,Oh What A Circus, The Rose, and Help Yourself, to name a few. If you love beautiful music, I don't think you'll find better then this!

Thanks to Public Broadcasting System, I became a Michael Ball fan when he was in the Dream Cast of Les Miserables (which was shown here in the U.S. on PBS). Since then, I have gone to the UK over the internet and ordered two cd's of his. Last night I happened to see the broadcast of The Very Best of Michael Ball in Concert and was mesmerized. His voice, his smile, and his dimples make him wonderful to hear and see. I must have the video of this concert!

As a stage star, Michael Ball used to be full of such promise, with an amazing, full voice. Who knew he wanted to be Tom Jones? Each of his albums seems to get worse, with oily, overstated vocal mannerisms, bad taste in songs and a generally high cheese factor. I keep buying them, hoping there will be a return to the "old" Michael. Instead, we are greeted with a hideous version of "Hot Stuff" (ooh, disco!) a Blues Brother medley and the theme song from "Friends." The good stuff here: A Michael/Brian Kennedy composition "Someone Else's Dream" and a medley that combines Robbie Williams' "Millennium" with "We Have All the Time in the World." But the rest of it reeks of the lounge at the Desert Inn.
