Like many European pop stars, ABBA often remade their hits in languages other than English for further penetration intoforeign markets. (Remember the Beatles' "Sie Liebt Dich"?) Throughout their eight-year career, ABBA remade many of their biggest hits in Spanish for the enormous Latin music community, and the results were collected in 1994 on ORO and MAS ORO (Spanish for Gold and More Gold), Spanish-language equivalents of the similarly-titled English-language compilations. ORO begins with the Spanish-language versions of ABBA's two most overtly Latin tunes, "Chiquitita" and "Fernando", andgoes on to eight of ABBA's other biggest hits, including "Gracias Por La Musica (Thank You for the Music)", "Dame, Dame, Dame (Money Money Money)", and "Conociendome, Conociendote(Knowing Me, Knowing You)". The translations and performances are excellent, and ORO is of interest even to those who don't speak the language.

I've been looking for this album everywhere, and was so pleased to find it here-thanks Amazon! This is a really great album for me, as it includes most of my favourites, but as they are recorded in Spanish it puts a whole new spin on them. Move On has always been my favourite ABBA song, and the Spanish version, Al Andar, is included here. If you are searching for something new after all the other albums, i'd definately recommend this before the thank you for the music boxed set, for value for money and because it proves beyond a shadow of doubt that ABBA can kick it worldwide.

I would recommend this album to any hardcore Abba fans and anyone who speaks or understands Spanish! It features Latin American versions of some of their biggest hits like Mamma Mia, Fernando and Dancing Queen (La Reina Del Baile). One of the higlights of the album was Al Andar, which is a Spanish version of Move On (from 'The Album') I have never liked Move On (especially Bjorn's spoken part at the beginning) but Al Andar works really well and thankfully they dropped Bjorn's part! This album is a bargin for an import, especially since it includes five extra tracks. I'd much rather listen to this as an example of Latin American music than Ms Lopez or Mr Martin.

Although it compiles both ABBA Oro and ABBA Mas Oro, meaning GOLD and More GOLD in Spanish, this product really shouldn't interest anybody except the Spanish speaking pop buyers and hardcore ABBA fans. It includes (I think) all of their spanish recordings, some of them sound beautiful in Spanish (ABBA would sound great even in Hungarian), some of them are ruined by clumsy lyrics. My favorites would be tracks like Hasta Manana and El Andar and other tracks that already have a Spanish vibe to them. ABBA Oro is a product for limited masses.
