MMMMmmmmmmm! If you're looking for an awesome modern big band with a sultry, sexy-voiced lead singer, look no further than Lavay Smith and her Red Hot Skillet Lickers. They sound like someone put one of the 1940's big bands in a time machine and sent them to 1990's California. If you're a lindy nut, Big Fine Daddy, the title track and Honey Pie are tops for dancing. The rest of the CD is very listenable as well, and fun to sing along with when you're by yourself (or with others, whatever). As a swing kid and music junkie, i can highly reccomend this CD for all those who love to swing.

Lavay is wonderful! She and her band are a breath of fresh air. It is so unlikely and so exciting that a band would appear on the scene today that plays classic jazz and blues so well and so convincingly.
With her her eight-piece band Lavay Smith celebrates the swinging big-band blues past with obvious enthusiasm and pleasure. Her light and airy voice, something of a cross between Anita O'Day and Helen Humes, shows natural affinity for the blues as it articulates the often saucy words to classic songs. First-rate vocals...magnificent arrangements...the best combo in town.

Low down dirty 30's feel that's so real you can smell the smoke filled chicago air. Sultry sexy and great. I had this as an almum for throwing huge mansion parties and it got everyone going! Do it :)
