5.0 out of 5 stars Best? Or Worst?, 31 Oct 2003
By Hugh Evans - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
On the sleeve notes it says: "Could This Be The Worst Album In The World? Or Is It The Best?".

You could say it's both.

You see, there are good songs ('Son Of My Father' and 'Seven Tears') along with the truly awful songs ('Johnny Reggae', 'Hello') and the songs which get you singled out because you like them and no-one else does ('Agadoo', 'Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep'). Sometimes it's suprising how some of the songs made No.1, let alone the entire charts!

But all in all, this can be very entertaining and worth a laugh.

3.0 out of 5 stars Several guilty pleasures but too much filler, 1 Jan 2000
By A Customer
As an afficianaddo of truly bad music, I was really hoping for much worse from this release. Yes, there are some truly abysmal tracks, such as Joe Dolce & Tiny Tim, but too many fall into the category of just not very good, rather than truly execrable.

Jack In The Box and Anyone Can Fall In Love are really not any worse than the average track on Radio 2. The Essential Wally Party Medley is actually entertaining.

The purpose of an album like this is to have your guests look at their watches and say "Gosh! That late? I'm sorry, I have to leave."

Some tracks on this CD may encourage them to stay.

3.0 out of 5 stars A love hate relationship with 'novelty' songs, 2 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Just when you thought they'd be confined to the history books of music, or kept in a deeply buried filing cabinet under 'Never to be played again', some of the worst of the worst, the best of the worst, and even some of the best songs, find their way onto a compilation that you'd never think possible.

Whether or not you'd agree with Chegger's choice of trax for the album, there are some brilliant ones notably 'Kinky Boots' and 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight'. There are also some tracks which I'm sure some people SAY they hate, but, like them deep down. And there are those that everyone truly hates.

In my opinion, it's both a great album, and a not such a great album. It is capable of both filling, and clearing the dance floor in seconds, and has a great variety of music. A real must have if you do lots of entertaining on any scale.
