Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Queen Of The Coffee Table, Gabrielle's career is demonstrating a remarkable longevity, considering that since the all-conquering "Dreams", she's seemed to cater for the few but the fickle city bohemians that have just discovered Massive Attack as "the next happening thing". It's not hard to see why, though, because Rise is ultra-slick, impeccably-produced soul-lite. What might come as a surprise is that in its own way, it's actually very good. A largely weepy album, much of Rise deals with the emotional fall-out of a failed love-affair, but through its tears, songs like "Over You" and "When A Woman" offers a girls-against-the-world solace. But as a warm undercurrent, there's a parent-friendly theme to "Sunshine", dedicated to Gabrielle's new-born son, that should see Rise lovingly working its way into a vast number of record collections. --Louis Pattison

This is such an easy album just to get in relax and do nothing to, stirring up emotions and bringing you back to earth just as gently. Its a great piece of work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Something rare that you can listen to from beginning to end, 1 Oct 2000

(REAL NAME)
There aren't very many albums out there that you can get into so easily. rise is an amazing album which really makes you feel good. Rise is a great song thats timeless because of its quality. but the best track on this album is Tell me what you dream. With its smooth production and groovy feel, its something that will make you cling on to the album. Also, there are lines here and there all over the album full of honesty and everyone will relate to something on here. Its hard to turn it off once it starts running and you want it to go on forever. its essential if you want a quality music collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very moving record.Soul touching and up lifting.Buy it!, 8 Sep 2000
I first became aware of Gabrielle in 1993 with Dreams, but wasn't persuaded to buy any of her albums until I heard 'Rise.' Along with the video the song gave me goosebumps! Not an average response to a song!So I bought the album and haven't been disappointed at all.Album highlights for me are 'Over You','Falling','Independence Day' and the amazing 'Should I Stay?'I now have all 3 albums and can recommend all of them. Her first 'Find Your Way' features 'Dreams' and highlights include 'Because of You' and 'Who Could Love You.'Look out for 'Gabrielle' the 2nd album with 'Walk On By,''Give Me A Little More Time' and the moving 'Alone.'Although not as deep as 'Rise' these albums are well worthy of a place on anyones CD shelf.
