3.0 out of 5 stars Good, SHOULD be better., 12 Dec 2000
By A Customer
Without a shadow of doubt there are GLARING mistakes on this album. Robbie William's "Millenium" is ridiculously included. Just extra income for an artist who only wrote the song for 'Millenium' windfalls. "Angels" would have been an acceptable replacement, however there just should have been NO Robbie.

What has happened to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven", Crowded House's "Don't Dream it's Over" and Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"? And, I think the album needs a pinch of Elvis.

Roxy Music's "Jealous Guy"? Shouldn't that be John Lennon's "Jealous Guy"? Or was this not allowed because he has already been mentioned once on this compilation. Are artists not allowed to have more than 1 song of the millenium or something?

Didn't David Bowie do a better song than "Heroes"? Beautiful South, Texas, Pet Shop Boys? - Go home. Make way for Otis Redding's "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay", The Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody", Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams".

Ok, enough of the bad points, the album is mostly full of top quality music. As has been said, this is a good attempt to produce an album of the millenium that tries to please everyone - which is hard.

Though, if it was an album made to try to please everyone, it should not have been titled "Music of the Millenium", because unfortunately most people don't know what good music is.

And for someone to get this many good songs on an album, they should not have ruined it with 'not-good-enough' songs.

But, I would buy it at a reasonable price. (if I did not have most of the songs already)

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty damn good, 30 Nov 2000
By A Customer
The album rocks....not definiative, but then it was based upon the british poll by Channel 4 - so i guess it's your fault! (i didn't vote:) ) However, the album is great, and like everyone says it cant please you all. What i would like to point out is there is music of the millennium part deux now, and classical music and others....So no, they haven't forgot about music before 1960....a good allrounder - buy it

4.0 out of 5 stars Music of the Millennium - an excellent compilation, 15 Feb 2000
By A Customer
I saw this CD one day while looking for something else and decided to buy it instead - and I have to say I'm glad I did. Some of my favourite songs are on there - A Design for Life, Every Breath You Take and Imagine being just a few. I'd never heard Unfinished Sympathy before I bought this album, but now I rate it as one of my favourite songs ever. I agree with the reviewer who said that Stevie Wonder should have been included (personally I would have put Superstition on there somewhere), but I suppose whoever compiled the album had a difficult job when there are so many classic songs to choose from...Overall, though, a great album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best Music of the Millennium, but close
I thought that this was a very good CD, with no truly bad songs on it. However, as with all albums, there is some wasted space, which could be replaced by some half-way decent... Read more
