This album is a masterpiece. That can not be denied. The first half is salt of the earth sixties Mod RnB. This is the type of stuff that the Small Faces cut their teeth on. Stand out tracks include "Afterglow", (a song that the Hammond organ must of been invented for) and "Son Of A Baker". I can not be denied that this side of the LP is what lesser bands have built whole careers from. Side B takes is into full on sixties phsycadila concept album land and it is this part of the album that made "Nut Gone'" in my mind sheer class. The concept is hard to describe. Stan takes some kind of drugs, has to visit Mad John, coaxes a giant fly in to giving him a lift by bribing it with a meat pie, and it ends with a good old fashioned east end knees up... If you don't own this piece of rock history you should be ashamed
