This is the first time I've ever been motivated to write a review on Amazon, but this album is the one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard and I'm speaking as someone who listens to a lot of music. If this review persuades just one person to buy this phenomenal album then it will have been worth it.

First of all it should be said that this album is based on the premise that there are similarities between traditional Tuvan throat music and traditional Bulgarian music, this similarity being borne out by the fact that the two races co-existed in central Europe tens of thousands of years ago.

Doesn't sound promising does it? I'll concede that this album will appeal most to world music devotees but if you are a fan of world music and don't have this album, or if you are someone prepared to try something a bit different then I can't recommend this album more highly.

Right, now to the most important thing - the music. The music on this album is absolutely breathtaking. For the uninitiated Tuvan throat singers tend to sing right at the bottom of the register and seem to be able to manage to create their own feedback when singing - think Barry White after gargling with broken glass. Contrast this with the Bulgarian singers - all female - who sing higher up the register and create these amazing, sometimes wordless, harmonies. Put the two together and the voices complement each other perfectly.

No description I could give of the voices or the music on this album would do it justice. The result of this union of voices is otherworldy, stunning, beautiful, mesmerising music. The first time I heard this album I had goosebumps because of the beauty of this music. Speaking as a man in his mid-thirties with a large music collection I can honestly say that I can count the times that that has happened on one hand.

Please do yourself a favour and buy this album.
