Well performed delicate early opera, 20 Sep 2007

This opera is full of delicate and at the same time passionate music. Jacobs' conducting is exempliary and the fine delicate nature of the work comes forth through his direction of fine ensemble playing. The aria " Amor nel mio penar" sung by Ragin is probably the best recorded aria for countertenor recorded thus far (exceptional). His final duet with Lena Lootens, who sings with precision and sweetness in general is also a jewel of this recording. This is an early "minor" opera of Handel that is well worth getting to know.
