Amazon.co.uk Review

"You can't kill the boogeyman", explained John Carpenter in the original Halloween, and to prove it Michael Myers returns in the handsome but grisly sequel Halloween 2. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode but spends most of her time cowering in a hospital gown, and Donald Pleasance runs around like a maniac as the panicky doctor desperate to hunt down Myers before he kills again. Carpenter writes and produces with partner Debra Hill and together they replace the mystery and uncertainty of the original with an exponentially bigger body count, some strange tales about the Druids and Pagan ceremonies, and the now-familiar family ties between Michael and Laurie. First-time director Rick Rosenthal (Bad Boys) paces the film at a brisk jog and directs it with a clean, crisp style, taking the murders out of the dark to display them in all their nasty detail. --Sean Axmaker, Amazon.com

LEADING ROLE: CHARLES CYPHERS, DONALD PLEASENCE, JAMIE LEE CURTIS, JEFFREY KRAMER, LANCE GUEST RELEASE YEAR: 1999 DIRECTOR: RICK ROSENTHAL RUNNING TIME: 115 MIN. REGION: REGION 2: EUROPE RATING: UK:18 GENRE: HORROR REVIEW A Halloween night of terrifying butchery; a convicted killer on the loose; a frenzied chase after an unstoppable murderer. These are the harrowing ingredients of the follow-up to John Carpenter's sensational hit. Once again, Michael Myers pursues the beautiful teenager Laurie and satisfies his blood lust with random slaughter: loving couples, a defenceless nurse, a luckless guard and many more fall prey to Myers as he wields axe, bread-knife and even medical syringe in his relentlessly violent quest.

5.0 out of 5 stars quality stuff, 1 Nov 2005
By El "Rissel" (Devon, England) - See all my reviews
This film is an excellent carry on from the first film. continuing the original storyline and expanding past it. keeping it on the same halloween night and adding extra twists just increases the thrill of the ride.
I highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Halloween 2 Synopsis, 1 Jul 2002
By Barnaby Twyman (Staines, England) - See all my reviews

Finally we understand why Michael is after Laurie. Due to the massive cliffhanger of the first film we see that Michael Myers has escaped and his victim Laurie has been taken away to Haddonfield Memorial Hospital. Soon Michael finds out where Laurie is after hearing her whereabouts on a radio and travels to finish his night of terror. Soon he gets to hospital and discreetly murders the guard, four nurses, two ambulance drivers and a docter until only him and Laurie are left in the deserted building. But with Dr. Loomis on the way things can't go wrong until Michael's connection to Laurie is finally revealed. A strong sequel with a fair share of gore that backs up the first film. Rather cheesy at times but this is the one where we find out how Laurie has become Michael's object of obsession.

5.0 out of 5 stars Myers back at his best, 3 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Halloween has been hailed as the best horror film ever made, so it was always going to be tough for the sequel. In many ways this is better than the first as its more tense. The sequel breaks new ground and reveals some secrets along the way.

The film is a direct continusion of the first and most of which takes place in the hospital. My advice is if you liked the first then you'll like the second.
