Still a great album although now sounds a little dated. I just wonder how far Spear would have gone if Strangers In Our Town was released after Never Take Me Alive.

They seemed to work hard, and believed in their music. Big shame they weren't bigger.

At the time they were 'alternative' because it wasn't the keyboard pop of the time, but their melodic guitar is closer to the Oasis/Coldplay/etc. sound of the modern day charts.

Kirk Brandon is supremely confident as a front man and belts out images of travel, freedom and unstoppable youth. Opener 'land of shame' is a classic, but not alone. Try 'Pumpkin Man', the single 'Never Take me Alive', and 'Strangers', 'Whole World's Waiting'.

Somehow it manages to sound a bit dated (or nostaligic), maybe it's the simple rhythmns and melodies, but it's good solid music. If you (like many) have a vague memory of these guys I think you will enjoy this.
