Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

It's a small shame to see Varese re-packaging its back catalogue to capitalise on Williams's Star Wars fame. You can't fault the thinking of course, nor the choices for inclusion on this collection, and it's certainly a better showcase than their similar James Horner album. There are three out of 16 original pieces here (gloom-laden Presumed Innocent, polar-opposite feel-goodness Stanley and Iris, and rousing good-ol'-days tune The Cowboys), the rest are re-recordings from several years' worth of concept discs. The best of which are undoubtedly from the talented conducting of Joel McNeely and the ever-thunderous Royal Scottish National Orchestra (The Towering Inferno or Amazing Stories). Even if this should have 'fessed up as a Varese taster promo, its all flawless material. Ideally for all concerned hearing this album will lead to further exploration of Williams's work. --Paul Tonks
