5.0 out of 5 stars Classic moderne French dance music!, 29 Sep 2000
By A Customer
Wow! This compilation snuck out without any coverage last yar but it has been a consistent favourite of mine. For any fan of Air, Daft Punk, Cassius, blah blah blah....

If you're already a fan of this sort of stuff, you basically know what to expect. Quite a few of the songs are of a slower pace, most are instrumentals. Some great dreamy stuff.

However, this CD is worth the price tag alone just for the outstanding song by Phoenix. Unlike "United" this isn't Jan Hammer or Steely Dan. This is out and out hedonism, hands in the air, daft funk. It is a glorious glorious track, what I believe they classify as a TOOON! This one song is absolutely essential, and when they eventually bothered to release it as a single, they did a criminal job of marketing and no one heard it. Shame on them, it is the single best thing to emerge from the whole French dance scene of the last few years.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't live without it., 1 Nov 2000
I bought this CD from Amazon after hearing it on a quiet Thursday night out in "Oslo" in Leeds. The cool, mellow, funky dreamy tunes just made me fall in love with it.

From then until Sabena Airlines lost it in Brussels (not the name of a club in Leeds) it was seldom in its case. It even replaced Permiers Symptomes as my favourite CD.

Now that I've finally given up on ever getting my baggage back (There were 1000 Marlboro in it too!) This is the first of the 12 CDs I lost (Including the great Premiers Symptomes and Moon Safari) that I'm replacing. Having owned it for a few short months, I simply can't live any longer without it.

Nuff said.

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding, 6 Feb 2007
and to think that i bought this album upon a whim one day (uncharacteristically) for the album cover.
little did i know that the music would both blow me away and also influence the music i was writing more at that time than any other band...

if you like elctro funk- this is your groove man......every-one else i urge you to buy it anyway.

i was gutted when my copy got left at a party some-wher...at least i can buy it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favourite records ever
OK, I am a big fan of all Source records and tend to buy whatever comes on the label, but this is different... It is THE classic electronic pop French record to own. Read more
