Product Description

CD Description

Coming off of his biggest commercial success in years, 1989's TRASH, Alice Cooper decided to follow the same accessible, radio-ready formula for its follow-up, 1991's HEY STOOPID.Producer Peter Collins smoothed out the edges of Alice's music for mass consumption. Like its predecessor, HEY STOOPID features many guest appearances from some of the day's top rockers--Guns N' Roses' Slash; six-string wizards Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Vinnie Moore; Motley Crue's Mick Mars and Nikki Sixx; and the legendary Ozzy Osbourne all lend a hand. The album's opening title track was a rocker containing lyrics that dealt with the dangers of hard drug use, and was a popular video on MTV's Saturday night heavy metal show, HEADBANGER'S BALL. Other highlights include "Love's a Loaded Gun", "Burning Our Bed", "Feed My Frankenstein", and "Die For You".

5.0 out of 5 stars NOTHING STOOPID ABOUT THIS ALBUM!, 17 Jul 2000
Alice Cooper has another solid album with "Hey Stoopid". This album is similar to "Trash" in that it would definitely appeal to fans of melodic hard rock. He DOES deviate a bit from the sex, love, and failed relationships theme long enough to bring us the title track "Hey Stoopid" and "Wind Up Toy". "Hey Stoopid" is an anti drug song, plain and simple. "Wind Up Toy" is about somebody in an asylum...a very Cooperesque theme. "Love's a Loaded Gun" explores the dark side of a jilted lover, while "Burning Our Bed" suggests and extreme way to deal with the pain..."Baby I'm burning our bed." "Might as Well Be On Mars" is a song pretty much everybody can relate to. It's about unrequited love "I'm right in your back yard, and I might as well be on Mars...You don't see me." The rest of the album is about down and dirty sex. "Dirty Dreams, how ya gonna do me." and "Try to lose control. I'll stain your soul to red from white." are a few examples of the lyrics. You get the picture. Alice Cooper proves once again that you can never go too far when exploring a subject. I think the variation of theme and adding things like "Wind Up Toy" may make this album more palatable to Alice fans that weren't as enthusiastic about "Trash", and I think if you DID like "Trash" you'll like "Hey Stoopid". If you're a fan of other bands within this end of the hard rock genre, you may be in for a pleasant surprise. Many of them have 1999-2000 releases. After you pick up your copy of "Hey Stoopid" you should definitely go check out some of your favorites. "Don't wait for a better day. Or you won't get there at all."-Kane Roberts-(Used with his kind permission)

5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated, 17 Jun 2000
By danflit@email.com (Bath England) - See all my reviews
First off this is a great improvement on the overly produced 80s cheese metal Trash. Alright, so the name is a bit tacky but lets forget that for a mo! Driving metal songs like Snakebite, Dangerous Tonight and Hurricane Years make this a worthy listen. Might as well be on Mars is an epic and almost a masterpiece. What puts the icing on the cake for me is the superb 'wind up toy' at the end. I won't say anything else, just get it!

(REAL NAME)
This album stands out amongst others with its catchy riffs and cheeseness. Songs like "Little by Little", "Die for you" and "Snake Bite" just make you wanna bang ya head and sing along!!
If you aint a fan of bands such as Van Halen and Def Leppard, this may not be the album for you
