Before Anthony Newley was the big West End Star, before Broadway and way before Vegas, Newley was a British pop star - by a mistake recording in a film called "Idol On Parade". In the movie Newley played a pop star who was called up to the army. Newley recorded all four songs from the movie and overnight flew to top of the hit parade. The film was tongue in cheek with a slight hint of the Presley in the army story, but the British public took it as fact and turned Newley into a pop star!
