This organ recording has been lovingley remastered and the hiss is barely audible. With Simon Preston at the console of Westminster Abbey the organ sounds squeaky clean and Preston sounds at his utmost best. The fantasia by Mozart is a real thriller and keeps the listener on the edge of his seat.
I particularly liked the Wachet auf with a very firm pedal underpinning the melody.
As you know the westminster abbey organ at the time of this recording was only a 4 manual ( now 5). It was recorded in 1967.
My only gripe with the disc is that the toccata by Widor sounded a bit thin.
This is a recording worthy of your collection and with a large network of suppliers this EMI disc should be very easy to get hold of.

The sound level of 3 tracks on the CD disappears down to near inaudible levels (and my equpment works fine). I would not have bought the CD if I had known this beforehand.
