Product Description

CD Description

While Alice Cooper's late-'80s comeback was a success largely on the strength of his ever-popular stage show, his albums of the era, 1986's CONSTRICTOR and 1987's RAISE YOUR FIST AND YELL, failed to reap mass commercial success. All of this changed with 1989's TRASH, his first platinum-certified album in nearly 15 years. The album's top-10 single "Poison" made fans of '80s glam-metal fully embrace Cooper, a man who had almost single-handedly created the genre.
As he did on his past couple of releases, Alice worked with one of the day's top producers, Desmond Child, who was known primarily for his songwriting talents (including hits for Aerosmith, Kiss, Cher, and others). Also, TRASH included several guest appearances from some of rock's top names--Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi play on "Hell Is Living Without You", while four of Aerosmith's five members appear at variouspoints throughout. Other album highlights include "Bed of Nails", "House on Fire", and the title track.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rock Masterpiece!, 11 May 2008
By Jake M "terbo08" (England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
I really find it hard to believe that a reviewer rated this album only one star! "Trash" was my first Alice Cooper album and one which I still play constantly. It is a superb album which you will find yourself playing over and over again and it really did deserve every bit of it's outstanding success.
Stand out tracks for me have to be "Poison", "House Of Fire", "Spark In The Dark" and "This Maniac's In Love With You" but there isn't a dud in the whole track listing, it's just great rock!
Do yourself a favour, ignore any bad reviews, buy this album, turn up the volume and enjoy it over and over again..

5.0 out of 5 stars Commercial doesn't mean bad...it's fantastic!, 28 Jun 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Trash (Audio CD)
You can't help but love this album. Alice has been through so many styles, so many changes, some more commercial than others (I mean, School's Out was commercial in it's day, the single made it to no. 1!)and they've all been good. Just because there are echoes of Bon Jovi (quite literally...) doesn't mean it's bad in any way. I love this album. It's sexy and raw. It doesn't matter what the musical style is, slick commercial rock or not, once Alice's unique and wonderful voice starts this can only be an Alice Cooper album and it is raw. Who else could make the word 'Trash' sound so good (and so BAD) at the same time! And surely the lyrics aren't really commercial either? - 'Bed of Nails' for example. The love songs are moving, the others are rocking and, well, if you're in the mood, SEXY! You have to listen hard for the 'guest appearances', but that's fun too. I don't just like the commercial stuff I like Alice's early classics ('Killer' especially) too - but I'm a young fan, I've only been a fan since 1999, so I look back on the whole catelogue without the hinderance of nostalgia for the classic early seventies, so I don't see why this album (or Hey Stoopid) have sometimes been slammed. 'Trash' just makes you feel good, it's an album for when you need some loud music to sing along to, and when you want to hear Alice's vocal talents at their best. 'Poison' has been on a lot of compliations lately - reflecting how good the track is and the longevity it has. Being commerical has its benefits - more people get to enjoy the music! I've loved it since the day I bought it and I've never got bored of listening to it!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of His Finest, 18 Mar 2003
By Mr. A. E. Hall "brother_of_sadako" (Liverpool, UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
In a career that spans 5 decades, Trash is one of the King of Shock Rock's best. It's difficult to say where it fits in in his career since he has done so much different music. Put simply, it's not gothic and intense like his early albums, or quirky like some that followed it's just ballsy rock. If you're an Alice fan like me then I'm just wondering why this one isn't already in your collection, if you're just interested in listening more to Alice then this is a good place to start. Poison was the big hit and is one of THE rock anthems of the 80s but Spark in the Dark, Bed of Nails, I'm Your Gun and several others stand out. Top class Alice.
