5.0 out of 5 stars Great performance of an unusual piece, 21 Mar 2005
It is easy to critasise a piece written in homage, but this is a special performance. The choral singing is first rate, the orchestral playing is very fine espiecally the obligato movements, making a terific all-round performance.

These days I feel the need for an antidaote to the "authentic" style of baroque recordings, IMHO this stands as an interesting monument to a forgotten style.

The choice of obligato Bass oboe is an inspired one and the playing is fine indeed.
