Oleg Marshev is not well known here in UK, but he can rival the Russian greats like Richter, Lazar Berman, Gavrilov and Pletnev. Those who have listened to his stunning Prokofiev recordings may find this Strauss recording attractive.
It displays Marshev's sensitive side, breath-taking tonal colouring and subtlty. Stimmungsbilder Op.9 is very evocative and played with much imagination and poetry. Recommendable to both R.Strauss fan and piano music lovers.
