Here is yet another great recording with the Queen of coloratura Edita Gruberova. Listening to this recording of Roberto Devereux, you allmost feel, that you are listening to the real story, as it took place. The magnificient voice has the impression of desperation and pain, and you really believe in this. Don Bernadini has a beautifull voice, but does not live up to his best performances. Delores Ziegler as good as ever and an okay Ettore Kim. What I love most in this recording, is the final scene, in which Elisabetta(Gruberova) sings the fantastic aria "Quel sangue versato". That is so breathtaking and absolutely genius written by Donizetti.
