5.0 out of 5 stars Only Electronic Music? I think not!, 6 Jun 2008
By T. Lazzari (Valencia, Spain) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have just purchased this CD, after my vinyl original was thrown out, together with my other records, many house moves ago - by my wife, bless her! However back to this recording, on playing the CD it has taken me back to the '60s when I heard this for the first time. My reaction then on hearing this played through large speakers connected to, the then state of the art, turntable, amplifier etc was of sheer amazement at the sounds generated and the stereo split. The latter was still something of a very 'new toy' for us.

This is a fabulous piece of modern 20th.Century musical composition at a pivotal point in time in the development since then of 'stuff electronic'. What are more now commonly called synthesizers and used it seems by everyone.

This digital restoration sounds much better than I remember being produced from my original vinyl recording. The best match where electronic fuses with digital to the benefit of both.

I cannot commend this CD more highly for any music collection. To say that it might be regarded, arguably I'd say, as music only for intellectuals and/or classical music lovers does not give justice to Morton Subotnick (composition) or to Donald Buchla and Ramon Sender (electronics). There are some wonderful historical sleeve notes by Curtis Roads enclosed for insight and further understanding.
