This album is an original masterpiece. It claims to be a musical appreciation of the work of the poet John Clare, but it is much more. Acclaimed multi-instrumental folk musician Gordon Tyrrall draws out the parallels between poetry and music in Clare's work. Clare was a keen fiddle player and collected many dance tunes. Tyrral has drawn on this collection for a number of instrumental pieces, whilst adding his own sensitive and haunting melodies to a number of Clare's poems. The album showcases a range of very talented musicians - Tyrral, himself, and others such as Brian Peters and Maggie Boyle. This is a very special album - I would not want to be without it in my collection.

This album is a gem - I'm on to my third copy now as people I know borrowed it to listen to and never returned it! Such is the mesmerising power of the songs here that you, too, won't want to give it back once you've been hooked. So here's your chance - buy your own copy now! Tyrrall is a national treasure, surprisingly still known only to a small select band.
