Losing commercial ground to young blues rockers Johnny Lang and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, blues legend Buddy Guy hired their producer David Z (!) and set out to record an album of rock, soul and loud, frenzied blues rock.

Did you notice that I didn't include "blues"?
Well, that's because this isn't a blues record. Sure, Guy covers "I Just Want To Make Love To You", but in an organ-laden funk-rendition, and most of this material, while not excactly bad, is pretty forgettable. And honestly...a ZZ Top cover on a Buddy Guy record?

If you want to hear the reigning kind of Chicago blues playing generic funk and rock, "Heavy Love" is a dream come true. If you prefer him to play the blues, stay far away from it.
2 3/4 stars.

This is "the real deal" to quote from the great mans album titles form the start to the finish this retro album with late sixties style album cover to its warm analog sound Mr Guy has created a kick ass album, with some really interesting songs such as "Midnight Train" and "Saturday Night Fish Fry". The first one of these features the "WONDER-KID" "JONNY LANG"
"DID SOMEBODY MAKE a FOOL OUT of YOU" is worth the price of the album alone with it's utterly sublime guitar solo!!
So don't just sit there get your money, card , cheque anything just buy this and buy it now....
