5.0 out of 5 stars an important and very enjoyable CD, 25 Jan 2007

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This is an important CD for lovers of Scots fiddle music and the tradition that lies behind it. Pete Clark is a first-rate player who lives in Birnam, only a mile or two from Niel (sic - Gow used a Highland spelling ; Amazon have got it wrong!) Gow's cottage, and here he and his small group celebrate and commemorate some of the music, airs, strathspeys, jigs and reels, of the Gows and one or two others. What makes the CD a bit special is that it was recorded in Blair Castle, where Niel Gow played, and on a fiddle which hangs there and was very probably his. Stylistically the music is played just right, and it is very fine stuff in itself - so this is a CD which deserves a high recommendation.
