This is definitely the best recording in Rozhdestvensky's complete Shostakovich Symphony cycle (originally released by Olympia) and one of the most terrifying performances of the 8th I've ever come across. USSR Ministry of Culture SO gives everything to capture the chilling atmosphere, the brutal forces and the deep sadness in the music. Beautiful and expansive DDD Recording. A must-buy for any serious collectors.
