A really excellent CD of mining songs from the Newcastle area. The material covers a variety of styles from the hauntingly beautiful 'Going to the Mine' to the jaunty 'Celebrated working man' but the basic theme throughout is of a hardworking miner betrayed and let down by 'the bosses'. The only song that - to me - lets down the CD is 'the big hewer' which I just do not like, but this I guess is just my choice. Enjoy!
