Product Description

CD Description

1991's CHORUS was a transitional album, as Erasure built onthe musical and lyrical advances of 1989's WILD! and reached towards the more melancholy, mature work of 1994's I SAY ISAY I SAY. Andy Bell exploits his remarkable vocal range throughout, moving effortlessly from a lower-register growl tofalsetto wails. Similarly, Vince Clarke's melodies and arrangements integrate the Hi-NRG electronic beats and synthesizers of the band's earliest work with the more reflective, organic sound of their later releases.
The title track, a danceclub hit in both England and the United States, is a delight, but the more ruminative "Am I Right?" and "Breath of Life" are sturdier songs. Aside from the delightful tribute EP ABBA-ESQUE and the singles collection POP!, this was Erasure's last release for over three years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chorus Rocks!, 27 May 2003

This is by far one of their top three albums. It's rare to find a CD where all the songs are good. Even being 10 years later I still love it. The songs are catchy with good use of 80's style synths. The vocals are powerful but "chill" at the same time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 1 May 2003
What an album. I have owned this since it was released and til this day it still sounds as fresh now as it did then. The album is so brilliant that there isnt a weak track on it. The four singles released from it are brilliant this is erasure at their best and till this day this album hasn't been bettered by them. The songs blend together well and although there isnt a bad song on it the outstanding tracks are the high tempo turns the love to anger and the haunting siren song. The album finishes with home and it is a mellow yet upbeat track. A great way to end it. Erasure have their critics but to me this is the best erasure album and one of the best albums of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old synths,fresh sound!, 9 Feb 2000
Erasure's sixth Cd is a return to older synthesisers yet manages to sound fresh.Fast opener chorus is catchy, waitng dor the day a great mix of pounding bass and andy's vocals shine. The opposites here the machined music blend like a fine wine with lush vocal.Siren song is unmissable, and home a great ending to great hour of music!

I once heard someone use a phrase "all killer, no filler". This certainly applies to this album. There isn't a bad song on this album (in my opinion). Read more
