Siouxsie and the Banshees were, and still are, a truly remarkable band, but I've always had mixed feelings about the Creatures. I could never get my head around most of Feast and Hai! due to the stark sounding percussion/vocal mix and repetative rhythms. Thankfully, however, this album builds on the musicallity of Boomerang, so there are more layered harmonies and the sound is generally more melodious.
The electronica compliments the rhythm side of the creatures very well indeed, and Siouxsie's voice is sublime as ever. Exterminating angel in particular could have jumped straight off of the darker Banshees albums, and the equally enjoyable 2nd Floor shows that Siouxsie and Budgie can genre hop with the best of them.
But the album - show the industry that whilst we are knee deep in emotionless drivel, we still have idols like the creatures to keep us floating.

If you were weened on Siouxsie and the Banshees, like I was when I was a kid, you'll be surprised at this latest release from the Creatures. On it you will find a rather confusing mix of Budgie's unique and skillful percussion and drums, mixed up with various stray guitar/bass/keyboard sounds. Siouxsie's voice is always distinctive, and you can tell it's hers, cause nobody else sings like her! Her pitch is a lot lower than it was, but she still manages to wail the roof off, on tracks like 2nd Floor and Exterminating Angel. I found these tracks disappointing, simply because they go on for too long, and are disjointed in parts. The best ones are Prettiest Thing, where the atmosphere is dark, and the lyrics are razor sharp, and Another Planet, which starts off all sweetness and light, and then spirals up into an intoxicating mix of ecstasy!
Does sound a bit like Garbage in places, but you can still here that Banshees trademark sound all over it.
