Standing at the bus stop of discouragement whilst the clouds rain heavy dissapointments on you, this album can and will bring you sunshine to your day. Its un-diluted enjoyment from the first second to the last.

This treat of a recording starts off with a groovy little number with alto sax phrasing not to unlike Mr. Coltrane and neatly balanced backing by the drums (Joey Baron) and the evenly paced basses (Bruno Chevillon & Steve Swallow). 'Barouf' is broken up (to allow Portal to swap from Sax to Clarinet) by a strange sounding noise that plays along with the racey backing. Weird but pretty neat!

The next highlight for me is track 4 'Mutinerie'. It has a lengthy theme at the start which displays stunning unisons between Portal's sax and Chevillon's bass. Its pretty free sounding as it progresses which I regard as refreshing break to what could have been quite a predictable album.

The mood changes throughout the album but the standard of group work expressed on this recording is highly admirable and fun sounding.
