CD Description
This CD combines two of Robin Williamson's mid-'80s albums.SONGS FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES is a set of traditional children's songs and tales given new-sometimes surprisingly inventive-arrangements by Williamson. Some numbers, such as the wonderful "Fool's Song", purportedly date back to the 16th Century and feature music penned by Williamson.
WINTER'S TURNING makes a fine companion. Most of the pieces are traditional in origin, here given over to Williamson's musical vision. Since his days with the Incredible String Band in the '60s, Williamson has mixed ethereal mysticism and earthly grounding in an inimitable manner. No single album could impartthe full sense of his musical breadth. While this set may not include any of his powerful originals, it is still an essential Williamson title and a fine entry point in his large catalogue.

a collection of traditional songs and nursery rhymes with a couple of isb songs for good measure. this album somehow conjures up images of every good christmas youve ever had.it has a beautiful rich texture thanks to the diverse range of acoustic instrumentation.it is very remeniscent of the early string band.it has that ephemeral quality that runs through the classic isb albums and much of robins solo work.his best solo album to date.
