5.0 out of 5 stars Schmart, 27 Jan 2004
If you liked "When Animals Attack", then you will also probably like this! It's pretty darn good, especially the tracks: 'Pocket Promise', 'Arthur Walker', 'Hexagon Eye', and 'Comprendez?'. Real clever drumming, raucous vocals, and ear-munching guitars... this is a great album to stick on when you're in a crap mood; so much energy is going off that you no longer feel the need to destroy things yourself. And this can only be good news for the household pets. Or whatever...

5.0 out of 5 stars *A perfect end to a perfect band...*, 1 Dec 2003

"Sub-Lingual" is the last album that Cable released before splitting up in late 1999. It is a bit more poppy and less aggressive than the previous two albums, but still a masterpiece nonetheless.

The opening song, "Song 1", is a jangly, catchy song with odd lyrics, a big build up and excellent drumming. The album continues to be brilliant, with songs like "Hexagon Eye" and "Brothers and Sisters" catching on especially for their amazing rhythms and vocals.

The end of the album calms down a little, with the singalong "Comprendez?". You have this urge to play the album again and again. And again.

What else can I say, but WOW.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why no more?, 2 Jun 2004

This is a great way to go out for a band, with some absolute gems on this album. A cracking opener in "Song One", superb thrash tracks in "Hexagon Eye" and "Brothers and Sisters" and plenty of more melodic material. The vocals are slightly odd at first, but give it time-it will come! Top album-enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars original new sound but still true to their old form
Fantastic alternative rock tracks like hexagon eye set this up as a stunning album. Cable have kept their old ways close at hand though with complex rhythms and great tunes.
