Product Description
Amazon.co.uk Review
Taking their name from an ancient Celtic harvest festival, Lúnasa are a veritable dream team of Irish musicians whose thrilling groove is found courtesy of former members of the Waterboys and Sharon Shannon's band, on cello, bowed upright bass, and acoustic guitar. Melodies, both poignant and frolicsome, soar on the exceptional wings of fiddle, flute, whistles, and Uilleann pipes. From the warm belly of Celtic tradition, the quartet (rounded out by guest players and piper-whistler Cillian Vallely, a touring member) radiates outward, incorporating elements of jazz improvisation as it swings low and wide, high and tight, delving wholeheartedly into each piece's unique rhythmic pulse. Otherworld, in the unprecedented vernacular of Lúnasa, is nothing short of astonishing. --Paige La Grone

5.0 out of 5 stars A great album, whether you usually like folk or not!, 10 Jul 2001
By A Customer
This is an excellent album by an outstanding Irish folk band. No lyrics, just brilliant traditional and original tunes, played with finesse and style. A wide variety of styles, from slow airs to stomping jigs and reels. I defy anyone not to dance!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lunasa - Redwood, 4 Feb 2004
This is the fourth album from these mighty players. With its excellent melodies, fantastic and innovative harmonies and arrangements, including the unusual addition of double bass and guitar providing pulsing rhythms, this album stirs the soul and gets you dancing. All of the players are masters of their instruments and have formed a tight, cohesive group. A 'must- listen-to'.
