5.0 out of 5 stars Immense, 4 July 2004
By S. J. Hofmeister "mikepatton4president" (northants/newcastle u.k.) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Despite the fact that this album is 5 years old, it still sets the highest standard for ultra technical noisecore. It combines superb guitarwork and drumming to crazy time signatures along with Dimitris gritty, piercing vocals and the ability to slow down to a funky jazzmetal hybrid when you'd least expect it to make an all round diverse, quality album. I think that just about sums it up...its amazing...buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars They make Slipknot sound like Busted..., 10 Feb 2003
By A Customer
In fact, these guys make every commercial rock band thats ever existed look like unimaginative lightweights. While many of these bands sail through rehearsals, plodding through the same one-dimensional riffs, The Dillinger Escape Plan are hard at work creating head-spinning music thats treats conventions like a particularly easy obstacle course. The collective musical skill of these five highly gifted guys is simply jaw-dropping. What on earth possesses people to make music this complex? who knows. Just be thankful theyre here to set the standard.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best metal album you'll ever hear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 3 Jun 2004
First of all, to describe this album as well as the Dillinger escape plan, I would say that this is: Ultra violent, power groove, Hardcore, technical Jazz orientated, speedy mental metal with evil lashings forcing into your brain.
With such great bands like Converge, Orthrelm, Cephalic Carnage or even Meshuggah about, the Dillinger escape plan are purely in a league of their own where no other band could touch them by a long shot. Listen to this album if you dont believe me!
If you're hearing this album for the first time, I recommend that you brace yourself for a continuos barrage of mental noise that will honestly blow you away. Songs like "Clip the Apex" or "Destro's secret" will make you wonder how you can combine nastiness and technicality so well, that it doesnt destroy the song like many other death and grind metal bands usually do. It truly is genius and is probably the best metal album you will hear for a very, very long time. Get it!!!!!!
