You may not have heard of Anna Moffo. Maria Callas and Joan Sutherland have tended to obliterate her legacy. However on the strength of this disc you will wonder why. She combines all the best qualities of the two aforementioned divas - perfect legato, total commitment to what she is singing, heartfelt characterisation, a complete range and a beautiful sound. She is sympathetically acompanied by one of THE great Italian conductors and the sound is rich and warm. The only criticism is the skimpy length, but that is inconsequantial next to the quality of the singing and the disc is a mid-price. Add this to your recital collection - it deserves a place next to Callas' Lyric and Coloratura Arias, Sutherland's Art of the prima Donna, Caballes' Puccini, Bjorlings EMI, Pavarotti's Donizetti and Horne's Rossini recitals.
