If you can get hold of this please do. It is simply a outstanding performance. It mixes contrapuntal clarity, balance and perfect phrasing with a musical integrity, and a mastery of the keyboard that comes from not only a great technique but more importantly mature judgement.

This is a very moderated and respectful rendition that would serve as an excellent introduction to the WTK. It is beautifully recorded and the price certainly belies the quality of the performance...

Roberts' style is truly "well-tempered"; There are no quirks or controversies to get used to here. This approach is invariably effective and particularly so with many of the preludes, such as the Eb Major Prelude in Book II.

If you are interested in the sheer beauty of Bach's music or want a recording that juxtaposes Gould, this edition is ideal.

Bernard Roberts gives the quintessential performance of what one may expect of a gold standard piece that is the Well Tempered Klavier. The confluence of maturity and superior technique provides for a substantial and reliable rendition of this well known piece and certainly one of the best recordings I have heard to serve the purpose of introducing the new listener to a feast of counterpoint wizardry. You will not be disappointed with this recording.
