Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Austrian DJ Peter Kruder is best known for his production work with studio partner Richard Dorfmeister. Together they have turned tracks by Madonna, Depeche Mode, Roni Size and Bomb The Bass into stoned chill-out classics. Peace Orchestra is Kruder's first full-length solo exploration of this trademark dubby, down-tempo sound. Each track is a delicately crafted mixture of jazzy percussion, deep bass, jaunty horns and mellow ambience. "Double Drums" drops a funky trumpet sample over a chunky, danceable groove, while "Domination" is a sleepy mix of wind noises, ambient melodies and jazzy breakbeats. Some tracks--such as the live breakbeat jam "Mesiter Petz"--is Kruder's take on pitch shuffling, bossa beats in revolt against exotic instrumentation and subtle synth melodies. Peace Orchestrahas a great dimly lit, late night vibe that makes it a near-perfect chill out album. Matt Anniss

CD Description
Peace Orchestra is the solo project of Peter Kruder, betterknown as one half of Kruder & Dorfmeister, perhaps two of the finest producers in the trip-hop/downtempo/whatever arena. The world has been waiting patiently waiting for K & D's debut, content with the duo's amazing remix and DJ-mix discs.Until that day arrives, most of us should be just tickled by Kruder's individual contribution.
PEACE ORCHESTRA continues the K & D tradition, pirating samples, sounds, and ideas from the best unknown jazz and R&B records, adding instrumental touches, and re-emerging with a painstakingly well rendered synthesis of jazz funk. This is Euro-synth groove music that remains fresh and original. On the opening "The Man, Part One", Kruder tells a sordid-sounding tale with lazy horns and squiggly electronics. The more upbeat "Meister Petz" uses fudged analogue smears and a sleazy rhythmic pulse to imagine a soundtrack for "Blade Runner" remade as a Bogie film. Like Fila Brazillia, Funki Porcini, and others of the same dank-nightclub ilk, Kruder understands the funky inner recesses of the groove. PEACE ORCHESTRA demonstrates how to motivate its hypnotic inertia.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, 27 Sep 2001

First the background:
The Peace Corporation is Peter Kruder, who is one half of Kruder & Dorfmeister. And K&D are the defining act in style of music that is both overlooked and extremely hard to categorise.

Its jazz, its trance, is wallpaper, its lounge music, its chill-out music.

It is all of these and none of them. The best description I have seen so far is "Chill out music for the switched on".

A few more artists in this genre: Thievery Corporation, Fila Brazilia, Daniel Ibbotson. Get surfing :o)

So, onto this recording:
I would try to avoid superlatives, but im afraid it is not possible. This CD is as good as it gets.

More laid back than K&D, more trancey, more crisp. The tracks are varied and distinct, and hopelessly addictive.

This CD is not a sound track for a dark french thriller, but it could be.
It wont change your life either, but it DOES belong in your CD collection, along with...

Fantastically chilled effort. Highly recommended. A good introduction or continuation for anyone interested in K&D. Late night music for insomniacs who love a bit of downbeat jazz

Like a perfect pussycat slinking round your ankles! Buy it - its just lovely. Play it when your freinds are round and if they don't already own it they will be demading to know what it is. Its the perfect soundscape for dinner, chilling or a rainy Sunday afternoon. I can't praise this CD highly enough.
