Product Description

CD Description

Having weathered his fall from grace and subsequent trial by media early in his career, Boy George has managed to reinvent himself not only as a successful DJ, but also as a labelboss and as front man for the reformed Culture Club. Now, as part of the establishment, and in his new capacity as rock'n' roll survivor he releases THE UNRECOUPABLE ONE MAN BANDIT, a surprisingly coherent collection of home demos and finished tracks.
Originally conceived as a fan club-only release available solely over the Internet, the album embraces everything from Kiss-style heavy rock to a cover of David Bowie's "Suffragette City" and a protest song for gay service personnel ("GI Josephine"). The sleeve notes come in the form of a notebook telling the story behind each song with a frankness that is normally rare to find in the music business. If you have a soft spot for Culture Club/Boy George, this one's for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars BOY'S BACK, 4 Dec 2000
By A Customer
After the amazing Cheapness and Beauty, how could he improve. By releasing this, that's how! Every song showcases his voice beautifully, from the rock of Suffragette City, to the bitter truth of She was never he, through the sheer pop extravaganza of Number One. Even though many of the tracks are un-mixed or demo versions one thing shines through -SHEER TALENT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Confessions of a bandit, 22 Feb 2000
_ The Unrecoupable One Man Bandit _ comes in the form of a notebook, a logbook, a book of life. It brings us anger and laughter, sharing with us the small daily frustrations, as well as life's deeper tragedies. By exploring the singular while remaining committed to raising consciousness and defending a responsible, humanistic type of freedom, it meets everybody's experience. This is spooky truth.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a Number One - But Rather Interesting, 24 May 2004
By A Customer
This album came out just before Culture Club returned with the sparkling "I Just Wanna be Loved" comeback single.

Many of these songs could have been brilliant Culture Club songs and I am still puzzled why he released the album when he needed more good songs on the "Don't Mind If I Do"-album. "Number one" could have been the perfect followup single to "Wanna Be Loved".

The songs are a bit unfinished but they are good and you can really hear that George is enjoying himself in the studio.
