As a long term fan of Martyn's and someone who has grown and developed listing to his music it is good to see another wonderful album being produced in contrast to the many drab and meaningless offerings of other such artists.

Martyn hits home with his music, his lyrics poke fun, stimulate and disturb often at the same time. he makes you sit up and listen as well as in many cases take stock. Laughing it allowed as is sadness and sorrow. All in all another must get album! See this guy live too when he comes round your way!

Martyn Jospeh's music is mostly country/folk (not my normal cup of tea) but it's his words that give him the edge. He writes first class poetry. Original; touching; words that make you think. On this album you have his exploration of the crucifixion in 'Strange Way' ("strange way to reassure your mother, strange way to finish your world tour, strange way to pose for countless paintings, strange way to gather in the poor") to his comments on the scantily clad `In Between Rounds Girl` who steps into the boxing ring between rounds. There's a strange kind of purity to the album which is inspiring and positive. In some ways it's how Bono described rock `n' roll - "it has its head in the clouds and its boots in the mud". Oh, and if you like country/folk you'll love it.

This CD starts with a track that scrapes away at the surface of the shallow way in which we live - it focuses on the specific nature of our friends in the US and is appropriately titled "Somewhere in America"

"Strange Way" says to me how things in life are all 'topsy-turvy'; priorities, hopes and dreams. Not as I first thought a song about a prison in Manchester!

"In Between Rounds Girl" - listen and tell me!

"What a Day, What a Universe" - excellent song - well worth a listen makes you think how important life is.
