5.0 out of 5 stars Under-rated seventies group, 20 Oct 2000
By A Customer
Reach for the Sky was the album which spawned the Sutherland Brothers & Quiver's biggest hit, Arms of Mary. Also included are songs such as When The Train Comes and Dirty City which display the song-writing and musical talent of the group. The title track is a delightful tuneful song where the acoustic bass of Gavin Sutherland is highlighted. Ain't Too Proud seems to owe something to the Temptations number Ain't Too Proud to Beg. Dirty City is driven along by typical Sutherlands rhythm guitar. Throughout the sublime harmony of the vocals of Ian and Gavin Sutherland take one back to a time when rock music had hooks galore and could be danced to or just listened to. This is a CD which you will return to many times. Arms of Mary is available on other compilations but here it is presented in its original glory.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, 1 Mar 2008
By Charles Cairns "Apachesky" (Scotland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Followed this band from when they were the duo, through their collaboration with Quiver, and then into their solo careers, and this is without doubt the best album they put together.

Hard to pick the highlights as they are all so good.

Dr Dancer has a ripper of a baseline and is a great song.

Love on the moon is a song I've played and loved for the past 20 odd years, and will play till I die.

Every other track has something for fans of all genre's.

Quite simply brilliant, and could not have been bettered in terms of production, writing, and harmonisation.

Not bad for a 5 piece band.

If you like this, you should listen to their album Beat of the Street.Quality.

Charlie (just a fan and not known to any of them...).
