5.0 out of 5 stars An essential CD for anyone who likes blues harmonica, 2 Jan 2002
By A Customer
An outstanding collection of tracks from the first Sonny Boy Williamson, John Lee, rather than the more popular Rice Miller who took the name after John Lee was murdered in 1948. The album starts off at a cracking pace and never lets up. The harp is top class but I also love his singing. Throughout he is accompanied by some top quality pianists, including Blind John Davis,Eddie Boyd and Big Maceo. There are so many classic tracks that it is difficult to pick favourites. "Got the bottle up and go" and "Mellow chick swing" are two real gems and you have to listen to one of the first recordings of "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl". The detailed notes that come with the CD are really good. At this price where else would get 24 inspirational tracks? Buy it now!
