Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Given that the film is a western, admittedly a sci-fi comedy western, the tracks on this disc wouldn't really fit in the movie. Of course, Wild Wild West is also a Will Smith blockbuster, and this is where the album takes its lead, making this a slick and polished successor to the best-selling Men in Black song album. Will Smith opens with the title tune, a catchy and highly commercial chart-storming rap featuring Dru Hill and Kool Mo Dee. The remaining 14 tracks are mainly light pop-rap, though "Bailamos" by Enrique Iglesias adds an attractive Latin flavour and Faith Evans' "Mailman" and "Hero" by Breeze are both smooth soul ballads. It's difficult to see how some of the tracks are really inspired by the film, while others skilfully stir western ingredients into the mix--"Bad Guys Always Die" by Dr. Dre & Eminem adding six-gun samples to an outlaw odyssey. This is state-of-the-art radio friendly US rap, but just make sure you get the album you really want, because the orchestral soundtrack album by Elmer Bernstein (who composed the western classic The Magnificent Seven) has a virtually identical cover. --Gary S. Dalkin
