Busi Mhlongo is the Aretha Franklin of contemporary African music.The voice, the band and the lyrical intensity. You can't get better than this.

This is Busi's first album and is full of reflections on the state of South Africa (album recorded before 1994) and its women. She's a very respected member of the Zulu community and the album contains many fine examples of Zulu and township music. However it is very accessible for the European ear untrained in African music. The production values are very high and many of the melodies are to die for. Highly recommended.
