5.0 out of 5 stars "Lost" or another case of Greed triumphing over Art?!, 12 Sep 2003
Another "lost classic"? Maybe, or perhaps just another notch on Andrew Loog Oldham's' bedpost of artists he's screwed! The aborted release , due mostly to his runnng out of money, yet again!, caused this fine album to slip through the net, far better than more revered albums such as the Who's "Sell Out" album, this is a sad testament to stupidity. "Lost Classic" is a much abused phrase, but in this case it is apt, Loog Oldham spent too much money on overblown flops and then neglected many better acts who could have been BIG!! This is a superb album, full of trippy, weird, psych "classics" that never were. Give "London Social Degree" as many plays as you do to "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and you will be amazed at the confidence of Nicholls. A true star who should have been but never was....a sad waste of talent....

4.0 out of 5 stars A lost masterpiece of the 60's, 9 April 2001
By A Customer
Apparently this album got lost when the Immediate label went to the wall and it's only now that it's been released. It boasts a pretty good support cast - there's definitely members of the Small Faces involved in it. There are some pretty decent tunes - London Social Degree is a catchy, happy number ( okay so it's about LSD!! ) and Girl From New York is pretty strong too. I think Would you Believe is one of the weaker numbers and not representative of the generally high standard. This is touted as Britain's answer to Pet Sounds - it may not be quite that good but it's well worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top-notch flowers, 4 Sep 2003

A cracking album, how did something so good manage to make no waves? It's nearly all good stuff. It's mostly mellow, the melodic content is high and the production superb. If you collect late 60s swinging London stuff this is for you.
