5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite animal film, 3 Sep 2005
By A Customer
The reviewer, Fleur, seems to be talking about another film of the same title which is animated. This film isn't animated. It's about an orphaned bear cub who befriends an adult male bear. The bears run into trouble when they find themselves being stalked by hunters for their fur. This is the best animal film I've ever seen; I never tire of viewing it. The little bear cub's dream sequences are superb.

5.0 out of 5 stars SPECIAL, 13 Jan 2005
This movie is one of the very best animal movies of our time. The scenery is spectacular, and the patience of the photographers to wait for animals to perform in such a way is beyond belief. Some of the gory parts would not be suitable for very young children but this is one family movie not to be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars For children and adults alike - delightfully sentimental, 22 Feb 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Bear [1998] [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Never again will polar bears seemed so warm, intelligent and loving. This animated tale is even more sentimental than the book it is based on, and Briggs' other animated classic 'The Snowman'. I wanted to cry all the way through, from the bear cub separated from his mother at the beginning, to his departure from Tilly as he finally swims north towards home. Look out for the charming 'ice-skating' sequence between child and animal on the ice of the Thames, and although the setting is modern day London, it is as picturesque as any Victorian Christmas card scene.
