Product Description

CD Description

Teutonic terrors Scorpions return with EYE TO EYE, their first album for Koch Records. The band retains the crunchy hard rock style that has kept it potent since the '70s and addsa contemporary commercial touch that proves Scorpions are not living in the past. "Mysterious" and "To be No.1" kick off the album, and both may raise the eyebrows of longtime fans. These excellent tunes contain beats and loops-a first forthe group. The latter is the first single, with a video spoofing the Clinton/Lewinsky affair.
The slower groove of "Obsession" is primed for radio airplay. "Mind Like a Tree" shows the group trading its lightning fast licks for a more plodding, Soungarden-ish feel. "What U Give you get Back" is an acoustic number showcasing the fine vocal talents of Klause Meine. The album closing "A Moment in a Million Years" features Peter Wolf on piano, another sign of maturity for a band labeled as heavy metal its entire career. EYE TO EYE rocks hard while venturing into uncharted pop territories. Scorpions keep current without selling out, and veteran fans will have a newfound respect for the band after multiple listens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Class Act, 2 Jan 2002
I always knew the Scorps were good but they just get better with age. Eye to Eye is as good an album as they have made I should know as I have about 20 from early stuff to present. Every song on this is first class and Klaus"s voice is as strong as ever. This is certainly one to buy as it grows on you all the time.Best songs 10 Light Years Away and Skywriter.Scorps fans buy it you wont be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Draw, 7 Jan 2000
The quality of the album surpassed me, and it is (at the moment) probably my favourite album of all time. From the poke at the Clinton-Monica affair with "To Be No.1", to the ballad "Moment In A Million Years", this album rocks, and was strangely muted in its publicity by the music stores (not naming names) in Leicester, and probably the rest of the UK.

2.0 out of 5 stars What a disappointing album...., 15 May 2004

(REAL NAME)
Reviewing this album is difficult for a good reason...The Scorpions are my favourite band...but this...these aren't The Scorpions...this is an album by Depeche Mode with fake covers! I thought Hard Rock was about guitars, bass, drums and pounding rhythms. The first 8 tracks are passable, but from track 9 onwards, you might as well scratch the cd to make sure you never listen to them! The album's only saving grace is the most beautiful ballad I have ever had the fortune to hear... 'A moment in a million years' left me weeping with emotion the first time I heard it... and still leaves me shaken to this day.
The reaction by the fans to this album has been cold to say the least! Only one for collectors then...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best ever Scorpions albums!
Uncharacteristically this album was not as 'hard' as most of their other work. Perhaps failing to impress Scorpions fans as a result. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Creative vacuum persists
Slated by critics and fans alike on its release, `Eye to Eye' is perhaps the antithesis of what the Scorpions were once about. Read more
