5.0 out of 5 stars Mellow intellectually happy drill and bass, 5 April 2001
By A Customer
This is Bogdan Raczynski's first release on Rephlex and it reaches a new level of stimulating brain music. Fusing aspects of drum and bass, electronica and hip hop, Boku Mo Wakaran creates a new sound. The sound of music. Raczynski uses sounds never before experienced in music, in a way that is best described as a phonic play park. A 323 BPM beat frantically sways on the swing while a collection of clashes and beeps spin on the round-about. Two percusive melodies play together on the see-saw as Raczynski orchestrates the whole playful gathering from his privelidged position on top of the climbing frame. The music not only plays with itself, but also with the stereo. No album has utilised stereo as well since Adventures in Stereo (volume 1). Being his first album, some songs hint at Raczynski's intentions that he has since put to test most successfully on Samarai Math Beats and Ibiza Anthems Volume 4. This said, Boku Mo Wakaran is easily as good as the other two titles, and possibly more aproachable to the Brain Dance virgin. To conclude, Boku Mo Wakaran is an exceptional album of experimental beats and beautifully crafted tunes. A perfect introduction to the life style that is good music.
