5.0 out of 5 stars Exquisite performance of "forgotten" music., 25 Nov 2004
By Sigmund Melberg (Stavanger, Norway) - See all my reviews

It is seems quite surreal that this actually is the first recording ever of Marcello's scandalously neglected "Requiem in the Venetian Manner". The singers - soloists as well as chorus - are all first class, and the Academia de li Musici play with natural ease combined with a poignant authority. The sonatas and the motet nicely complement the Requiem. The Chandos/Chaconne sound is, as always, impeccable. Highly recommended!
