The musical schizophrenia of Lit's independent release, TRIPPING THE LIGHT FANTASTIC, showed promise but never quite hit the mark. Lit's major-label debut, A PLACE IN THE SUN, puts the band right on target. The band has done away with its unfocused genre-hopping and polished its sound into tight power-pop-punk rock. The group's commercial crossover puts it more in the vein of bands such as Green Day and Eve 6, but the band continues to build on its keen lyrical sensibility.
The opening track, "Four", mixes humorous lyrics with irresistible vocal harmonies. "Quicksand" has the melodic graceone associates with songwriters like Elvis Costello and JoeJackson. The dichotomy of "Happy" is clever to say the least, with a perky, up-beat chord progression and lyrics that speak of frustration and the struggle to maintain a positive mindset. A PLACE IN THE SUN serves up its main course with "My Own Worst Enemy". The song's protagonist has woken from adrunken stupor only to find a trail of physical and emotional destruction in his wake. Self-deprecation has rarely beenso hilarious and so damn catchy.

i have to admit that when i heard this album first i wasn't too impressed, but after the 2nd time i couldn't get enough of it and still cant! I first heard of lit from the song "My own worst enemy". I liked this song so much i thought if the album is as good i wont be disapointed - and i wasn't! As i said earlier it's one of the best punk albums i have heard in quite a while.... 4/5!

This is the best album i have ever bought. After hearing My Own Worst Enemy on MTV about a year ago i bought it straight away and have enjoyed it ever since. Never got board of it and can't wait to they come touring in the UK.If you like Greenday and any other bands like them this album is sure for you. Lit are massive in the states but have only released a few songs over here. They did a song for the film Titan AE which is not on this album. I am a great fan of Lit and all you rock/punk rock fans out there must buy this album

This album is a must buy the sound is really cool. A. Jay's singing has really improved since Tripping The Light Fantastic. My favourite songs on it are My own worst enemy, No big thing, Four and A place in the sun I gave it such a high mark because it is so good. All Lit fans who haven't got it already go out and buy it, it's money well spent.
