in 1968 i bought shine on brightly. To this day it is my favorite procol harum album and one of my favorite albums of all time.
matthew fisher's organ playing on In the autumn of my madness is inspired as is robin trower.s guitar on the mega track In Held Twas In I.
Wishing well is a classic blues track but for me the simple straight forward song Something following Me is one of the best tracks because it is simple yet wrenching.
Skip softly my moonbeams sets up a quasi russian classical style that gary brooker extended so well in Grand Hotel a few years later.
The strengths of this album is the bands ability to play rock, blues, classical and combinations of these with grace and facility and humor.
